Course Structure & Introduction:
IUPAC Nomenclature: Learning the systematic framework for naming alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alcohols, amines, amides, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and esters.
Structure and Isomerism: Applying VSEPR theory to organic molecules and identifying structural, chain, position, and functional group isomers.
Physical Properties: Analyzing how functional groups and chain length influence boiling points, melting points, and solubility through intermolecular forces
Hydrocarbons vs. Biofuels: Evaluating the environmental, social, and economic implications of fossil fuels compared to renewable alternatives like bioethanol and biodiesel.
Organic Reactions: Mastering addition, substitution, oxidation, and condensation reactions (esterification and amidification).
Surfactants and Polymers: Exploring the cleaning action of soaps and detergents, and the synthesis of addition and condensation polymers (e.g., Polyethylene, PVC, Polyesters).
