The final module serves as the capstone of the course, integrating everything learned to identify unknown substances and design efficient chemical processes.
Course Structure & Order:
Inorganic Analysis: Using flame tests, solubility rules, and complexation reactions to qualitatively identify cations and anions
Quantitative Analysis: Mastering gravimetric analysis and specialized precipitation titrations (Mohr’s and Volhard’s methods).
Instrumental Analysis: Learning the principles of Colorimetry, UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, and Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS).
Organic Analysis: Utilizing chemical tests (Bromine water, Lucas test) alongside advanced spectroscopy: Mass Spectrometry, Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy, and Proton/Carbon-13 NMR.
Chemical Synthesis and Design: The "building blocks" of industrial chemistry—balancing reagent availability, reaction conditions (yield vs. rate), atom economy, and "Green Chemistry" principles.
